Insights

a conversation on intergenerational leadership challenges

The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) is pleased to present INSIGHTS, a series of community leadership dialogues that provide a space for Southeast Asian American community leaders and workers to discuss, learn, and problem solve critical leadership issues facing the Southeast Asian American Communities. It is also a place for support, seed planting, and inspirations.

The goal for these conversations is simply to create a space where leaders can have candid discussions around leadership challenges they face in their daily work as well as engaging in larger leadership and social justice questions. These challenges are often discussed in private and amongst friends; we hope that by coming together we may gain greater insights into how we can address leadership needs in our communities.

Please join us in the first of three conversations to be held in the Central Valley. The topic for this meeting is Intergenerational Leadership Challenges.

Please consider the following questions for this discussion:

  • What are the perceptions and expectations that older leaders have for younger leaders and vice versa?
  • How do these perceptions and expectations impact your daily work?
  • How do they prevent or support you from doing work in the community?
  • What are some of the ways you have dealt with intergenerational conflict?
  • What has to change in perceptions and expectations to lesson the intergenerational gap?
