About Our Leadership and Advocacy Training (LAT) Program
Since 1999, SEARAC has trained more than 1,400 Southeast Asian American (SEAA) students, community leaders, and allies from 42 states on how to harness the power of their own personal journeys to inspire communities and to engage elected officials to action.
Our alumni go on to work across the country as advocates, organizers, service providers, and local policymakers to represent and empower local Southeast Asian American communities.

When and where?
July 14-16, 2026
Washington, DC
Why now?
SEARAC’s commitment to building the power of Southeast Asian American communities grounds our Leadership and Advocacy Training (LAT) program.
This past year was an incredibly difficult one for our communities, including rising numbers of SEAA refugees being detained and deported, threats to equal access to education for K-12 and postsecondary students, and increasing healthcare costs. Our LAT participants will learn to harness those stories and share their communities’ experiences with their elected officials to make change at the local, state, and national levels.
Together, we are building community power to achieve our civil rights vision.
