Dear Friend,
Thank you so much to our incredible donors who have supported SEARAC during our end-of-year fundraiser. We still need $8,569 to reach our goal – can you make a donation to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian American refugee resettlement?
As the intricate, elaborate design from our featured artist, Sheena Vang, proclaims: refugee resettlement dares to start everything, everywhere again. We celebrate the bravery, the resilience, and the power of Southeast Asian American refugee communities whose lives and stories are interwoven with the fabric of this country.
“I want the world to know that Southeast Asian American refugees are notable — we are a hardworking, intelligent, persevering, thoughtful, and loving community,” Sheena shared. “Despite the limitations (lack of equity in resources), we will continue flourishing wherever we go.” You can learn more about Sheena by reading our interview with her here.
SEARAC is building power with current and future generations of Southeast Asian Americans through our Leadership and Advocacy Training (LAT) program, which has impacted more than 1,500 rising leaders since 1999. SEARAC covers the costs of travel, lodging, and meals for our program participants, to ensure that anyone can benefit from these leadership programs, regardless of income. With your support, we can continue this work for decades to come, building a pipeline of SEAA leaders who will ensure that their communities aren’t just surviving, but thriving, no matter who is in the White House.
