2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian refugee resettlement in the United States. SEARAC is closing out the year with a drive to raise $50,000 to commemorate this historic moment and fuel our work for the next 50 years.
Join us in building power with Southeast Asian American immigrant and refugee communities in this moment when community, power, and resilience are needed more than ever. This week, SEARAC will be sharing stories from our community about SEARAC’s work. Read them below:
Day 1: Protecting our right to heal by Kham S. Moua
When this government tried to silence us, our community showed up in their offices. Now, more than ever, we must remember our people’s history and tradition of resistance and step into our power.

Day 2: This Giving Tuesday, defend our community against deportations by Janessa Reyes
My grandparents fought for our survival, and I carry on their legacy by fighting for a better future for my community: one that is free from the fear of being kidnapped by ICE and torn from our families.

Day 3: Build an education system that respects SEAA students by Mike Hoa Nguyen
As a college professor, advocate, and member of the community, I refuse to let us go backwards. I’m proud to work with SEARAC to make the future that our students deserve.
