Dear SEARAC Supporter,
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian refugee resettlement in the United States, this year SEARAC teamed up with the Center for Asian American Media and acclaimed filmmaker Quyên Nguyen-Le for a groundbreaking new documentary film series, Southeast Asian American Journeys.
This series of short films chronicles the experiences of five Southeast Asian American (SEAA) communities across the country: their challenges, their hopes, their cultures and their legacies.

With support from donors like you, our series has been featured in 35 screenings throughout 2025, from Philadelphia, to St. Paul, to Fresno, and even Paris, France. And if you haven’t been able to attend one of our in-person screenings, we hope you’ll join us on December 13th for our first-ever virtual screening on Facebook and YouTube.
I had the privilege of attending our screening in North Carolina, alongside my family members who were featured in the North Carolina episode, Threads. I sat behind my family, watching their reactions as their stories appeared on screen. My parents squeezed my younger brother’s cheeks when he appeared on screen, embarrassing him with affection; my mom wrapped her arm around my sister when she spoke about the valuable work happening at SEAC Village in Charlotte; and our former sponsors who helped resettle us in Greensboro wiped away tears as they reflected on our time together.
At that moment, I was reminded that Southeast Asian American stories are not just about survival, but also about love, resilience, and community.

We have ambitious plans for this series, including ensuring that more and more people can see these powerful films. Today is the last day of our Week of Giving fundraiser, and we still need $39,000 to meet our goal. Join us in ensuring that the Southeast Asian American story is told far and wide.
Sincerely,
Phun H
