About Our Leadership and Advocacy Training (LAT) Program

Since 1999, SEARAC has trained more than 1,500 Southeast Asian American (SEAA) students, community leaders, and allies from 42 states on how to harness the power of their own personal journeys to inspire communities and to engage elected officials to action.

Our alumni go on to work as advocates, organizers, service providers, and local policymakers to represent and empower Southeast Asian American communities.

Why now?

SEARAC’s commitment to building the power of Southeast Asian American communities grounds our Leadership and Advocacy Training (LAT) program.

Over the past year, Southeast Asian Americans have experienced rising rates of detention and deportation, reduced access to healthcare and linguistically competent care, and threats to our right to be seen and to access quality education. Our LAT participants will learn to harness those stories and share their communities’ experiences with their elected officials to make change at the local, state, and national levels.

Together, we are building community power to achieve our civil rights vision.
