My name is Kabo Yang, and I have the privilege to serve as the SEARAC Board Chair. Outside of SEARAC, I am a strategic service consultant working with nonprofit organizations in the areas of strategic planning, board governance, and nonprofit management. My love for my community motivated me to join SEARAC’s board in 2019; the issues that SEARAC addresses in our work are critical for the Southeast Asian American community.
Tomorrow is the last day of our Week of Giving, and so far, 85 of you have helped us raise $19,234. We are so grateful for your partnership.
Though resilient, the SEAA community is also one with challenges that will carry from one generation to the next if there are not the proper supports for economic, educational, social, cultural and political participation. SEARAC plays a role in bringing awareness and attention to these at various levels from local to national, from programming to systemic change. By giving to SEARAC, you are investing in the fight for equity for all refugee and immigrant communities.
Please consider making an end-of-year gift to our Week of Giving fundraiser to support our expanding team and meet our goals for the year ahead, including continued growth of SEARAC’s staff (three new full-time staff members are expected to join the team by the end of 2022!) as well as ambitiously planning for a safe return to in-person programming and the development of our new five-year strategic plan.
With gratitude,
Kabo Yang, Board Chair
